140 characters is definitely not enough, but I can understand why the limit was set. For Verizon Wireless customers, one text message is 160 characters, so 140 allows 4 your message and tweet or allow other people to retweet your tweet. I personally like tweeting from my itouch, which provides me with a quick access to twitlonger or tweet shrink, eliminating uncessary characters.
